Two professors from School of History, Zhu Feng and Liu Jinyuan, had their research proposals approved for key projects of philosophy and social sciences research by the Ministry of Education.

After rigorous expert reviews and public announcements, the Department of Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education recently announced the 2020 list of key projects of philosophy and social sciences research. The list includes a total of 51 research projects from 35 universities across China.

Nanjing University had two projects approved, both headed by chief experts from the School of History. They are:

Research on the External Environment of China's Development under the Great Changes Unseen in a Century by Zhu Feng (20JZD060), and

Research on Archives and Documents of the South China Sea Issues Collected in England by Liu Jinyuan (20JZD035).

The key projects of philosophy and social sciences research by the Ministry of Education are an important part of the "Prosperity Plan for University Philosophy and Social Sciences." Together with the major projects of National Social Science Fund, they are known as the most authoritative projects with the highest level and the largest funding in the field of philosophy and social sciences research in China.

Having two major research projects approved by the Ministry of Education demonstrates the good development of the School of History in research and would put it in a good position in the construction and development of the "double first-class" disciplines.
